DWD Racing Wraps Up Season With VIR Enduro

Danville, Va. (Oct. 21, 2004) – DWD Racing will conclude a busy 2004 racing season with its fourth race, in four different cars and racing series, in seven weeks by competing in Saturday’s Kuhmo Charge of the Headlight Brigade 13-hour endurance race at VIRginia International Raceway sanctioned by the North Carolina Region of the SCCA.

Team owner Julie Allen will be co-driving the No. 52 Badger Motorsports/DWD Racing Mazda Miata with John Amirante, Glenn Bocchino and Chip Bryan. Sponsorship support for the DWD Racing effort comes from Worldwide Racing Fuels (Sunoco).

DWD Racing has been very busy since opening its doors in late summer. Allen drove a late model stock car in the Stock Car Spectacular event at VIR over Labor Day weekend, then co-drove a Mini Cooper S with female racing legend Divina Galica in the Grand-Am Cup VIR 250 on Oct. 2, and competed in the DWD Racing Austin-Healey Sprite in the SVRA vintage races at VIR on Oct. 15-16.

“The season has been interesting,” said Allen.  “I've had the opportunity to drive a fascinating variety of cars and work with a number of different teams and co-drivers. I feel like I’ve learned a lot, and that will help me this weekend driving the Badger Motorsports/DWD Racing Mazda Miata.”

This will be the second time that Allen has participated in the Kumho Charge of the Headlight Brigade, having co-driven a Nissan Sentra SE-R entered by VIR Euro Rally last year.

“I really enjoy this event, “ said Allen, “and particularly the opportunity to drive at night. The track takes on an entire new personality in the dark, and when you’re out there alone at night, pushing as hard as you can and concentrating at 100 percent, it’s a lot of fun.”

The Kumho Charge of the Headlight Brigade will be open to the public, and what is expected to be a very large field of cars will take the green flag at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday morning. Admission will be $10 per person at the gate.
